Lighting projects rarely fail on technology. They fail on unclear requirements and documentation that makes bids impossible to compare. Step 1: survey the existing estate
Everything starts with dependable data. We record light points with location, mounting height, pole spacing, luminaire type, power, condition, switching group and the function of the street. In many municipalities that information is spread across maps, invoices and the experience of individual colleagues.
We consolidate those sources into a single light point list and flag the open questions. It is unglamorous work, but it determines the quality of every later step, from layout to cost estimate.
Step 2: clarify the requirements
Before any product is considered, it must be clear what the lighting has to achieve. That includes the function and use of each street, the normative requirements relevant to the project, design constraints in historic centres, wildlife or resident considerations, and the operational wishes of the administration.
We phrase those requirements so they can be verified and reference the project-specific specifications and the relevant standards. Blanket assurances of standards compliance detached from a specific project would not be dependable, so we deliberately avoid them.
Step 3: photometric design
The layout follows the geometry rather than a watt-for-watt comparison. Mounting height, pole spacing, carriageway and footway widths, overhang and arrangement determine which light distribution fits. The output is a set of options with calculations showing which combination meets the requirements and what it means for connected load and operation.

Step 4: product and system selection
The layout determines the mix. Where a suitable existing LED luminaire stays in place, a node is retrofitted. Where the luminaire is replaced, the EnvioLux system luminaire is used, in our system offer always with a node and a connection to EnvioTerminal. In both cases lighting management is part of the solution rather than an option.
For documentation we separate the interface, the digital control and the operating data required. Our products are described accurately as compatible with Zhaga Book 18 & D4i.
Step 5: documentation for procurement
We supply technical descriptions, performance characteristics and quantity schedules in a form that can be taken into tender documents. The aim is comparability: bids should be measured against the same requirements rather than against differently interpreted wording.
Responsibility for the procedure, deadlines and the procurement-law review rests with the contracting authority. Our documents are technical input, not legal advice, and should be reviewed by the authority before publication.
Funding programmes
Lighting projects are often part funded through programmes whose conditions change over time. We set out the requirements such a programme typically places on technology and evidence, and align the documentation accordingly. Binding statements on eligibility come from the funding body itself.
Step 6: delivery, commissioning and handover
- Installation through partners: Delivery by electrical and installation partners, planned and coordinated section by section.
- Commissioning: Nodes are onboarded, mapped to light points and organised into groups.
- Profile setup: Calendars, dimming curves and, where intended, adaptive scenarios are configured and verified.
- Documentation: An updated light point list, mapping and settings as the basis for operation.
- Training: The people who will work with the system are trained on their own estate.

Consultancies work with us where controls and lighting management form part of the project. We provide the technical information on nodes, system luminaire and platform needed for layout and specification, and keep the wording open enough that the tender is not narrowed unnecessarily.

- Do you run the tender for us?
- We supply the technical documentation and quantity schedules. The procurement procedure itself, and the legal review of the documents, stay with the contracting authority.
- Can you guarantee compliance with standards?
- We design against the project-specific requirements and the relevant standards and evidence the results. A blanket guarantee detached from the project would not be dependable.
- What if we have no inventory data?
- Then the project starts with the survey. A map extract and an electricity invoice are enough for a first outline, and we fill in the detail together.
- Will you work with our lighting consultancy?
- Yes. We provide the technical information on nodes, luminaire and platform and fit into the existing project structure.
